Taylor swift- You belong with me.
This music video follows the typical convections of a music video genre. the video follows the story of two neighbours who secretly fancy each other, however the boy concerned has a girlfriend.Throughout the video we see their affections grow towards each other and eventually end up being together after kissing at the school prom.
Most of the shots are shot in studio however some of the shots are on location, e.g. when they are both sat outside their house on a bench. Although conventionally most music videos are shot in a studio some, like this one, include both shots on location and in studio.
Like most music videos this follows the conventions of the typical characters which star in the video. These characters consist of the protagonist- Taylor Swift, the main singer. Other characters include the love interest- Actor, and Dancers and Extras at the school prom.
This music video follows Todorov narrative theory of Equilibrium- Taylor and the boy are just friends - Disruption- He has a girlfriend who is completely opposite to Taylor - Re-Equilibrium- He breaks up with his girlfriend and kisses Taylor at the school prom. Typically the narrative and the lyrics in the music video link together, this is used in this video when Taylor is dancing in front of the mirror changing outfits to fit with the lyrics (She's wears short skirts, i wear t-shirts- grabs her t-shirt)
Throughout the music video typical media language is used for example, close ups of Taylor's face, changing of angles to create excitement- on the bench when Taylor and the boy are sat together. Fast pace editing matches the fast pace of the song.
Cher Lloyd - With Ur Love
This music video follows the typical ideology of most videos, and the theme of love runs throughout the video - mainly because the title of the song is 'With ur Love.' In this video Cher Lloyd sings about how the love of her boyfriend makes her feel 'on top of the world.'
This video is shot mainly on location, on a main street in London, and with the featuring artist - Mike Posner, on the roof of a building, showing the cities skyline.
Following the typical conventions this video shows, the protagonist - Cher Lloyd, and features lots of extras who are shown to be her 'friends' who she is telling about her boyfriend.
the music genre that Cher fits into is, teen pop. This is shown through the iconography used in her video - love heart balloons. The whole mise en scene of this video is very girly and 'poppy' which fits into the brand image of Cher Lloyd. Using this tool is very conventional to the pop music genre.
We see the video cut between Cher and her friends and the Mike Posner on the rooftop, then back to her - this is conventional to the music video genre.

Most of the shots are shot in studio but some of them are shot on location, e.g. where she is dancing in the street’ This is done to create realism but also its very common in music video’s to do shots, on both, location and studio.
The typical characters that are very common in music video and also in this one are, Protagonist- lead singer- Pixie singing and dancing throughout the video, dancers and extras, who are going on the night out with her, when they are on location.
